Every year on Republic Day and Independence Day, the people of Hyderabad are treated to the rare sight of a vast array of vintage cars parked along Chirag Ali Lane in Abidz. Crowds gather in the narrow alleys from dawn to dusk to catch a glimpse of Captain Kayarmin F.
Pestonji’s collection of vintage cars and motorcycles. In just his five years he acquired nearly 45 historic cars and an equal number of motorcycles in 1990 and 1995.
A professional pilot and avid rally driver, Pestonji found time to pursue his former career hobbies after the phenomenal success of his ready-to-wear retail business in Hyderabad, where he launched his local brand Cherma’s.
I gave up my passion for rallying and racing because it was almost gone. Out of his love for automobiles and the joy of tinkering with them, he started collecting and restoring vintage cars and motorcycles.
