China Earthquake | Death Toll Rises to 93 in China Earthquake.

On Monday (September 5) at around 1 pm local time, a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hit the southern part of China. As a result, landslides occurred in various parts of Sichuan Province. It caused extensive damage to the provincial capital Chengdu as well as neighboring provinces. Many areas were turned into ruins.

 

Officials in the province said the emergency alert level was downgraded after almost all transport, power, and telecommunication services were restored.

Rescue operations have been hampered by heavy rains throughout the week. Meanwhile, this week also in some areas of northeastern China, a landslide warning has been issued due to the appearance of new rains.

The strongest earthquake ever recorded hit Sichuan in May 2008. About 70,000 people lost their lives in the 8-magnitude earthquake in Wenchuan.
