Cloud computing has revolutionized businesses by changing a rigid set of architecture which drove all IT-enabled activities earlier to a scalable bundle of applications and flexible underlying architecture. Consumer requirements are ever evolving, now with a higher speed, which mandates the businesses to transform with the rapidly changing technology. Cloud Service Model can be delivered in three ways viz Saas, Paas and Iaas which we will explain in this article.
One such example is Adobe, which six years ago worked on a perpetual licensing model that limited its offerings due to inability to deliver better services & innovation. Adobe moved to a subscription-based licensing model by the name of Adobe Creative Cloud that provides its consumer with the latest innovations for content creation on its platform over the cloud. Adobe’s transition provided the company insights into license management of its user, higher flexibility in its revenue model and more scalability opportunities for its customers.
Cloud architecture has provided many businesses more visibility, transparency, measurability & scalability with low-cost structures. Business leaders now more than ever need to understand the implications cloud computing can have on their businesses because Cloud is not just an alternate path for providing IT enabled services. But a way to ensure that the solutions are reaching the expanding consumer base with speed & flexibility to ensure operational excellence. (Freeman, 2018)
