STEPS TO APPLY DECALS ON YOUR TRUCK WITH EASE

Custom vinyl trailer decals are a great way to make your truck stand out and advertise your business. But, many people often turn attractive decals into twisted clumps when installing them without the help of a professional. There are many things to consider when applying your decals. These include types of decals, application methods, truck surface, location, and many more. Affordable signs and graphics will give you steps to apply your decals every time!

IDENTIFY THE LOCATION

Identifying where the decals will be placed on the truck is crucial for a perfect application. Also, applying decals that may extend to multiple body components requires good planning and structure. So, assess the part you want the decals to be to know if it will fit.

MEASURE THE AREA

Put the protected back of the decal against the chosen area to know if it will fit in. These give you a sense of how the decal will look and the best placement. Ensure the spot is also dry before pressing the decal on it.

MARK THE SPOT

Tear off small pieces of masking tape and place them at the corners to mark the location. These serve as a guide when applying the decal. The masking tape also protects the truck paint from damage and discoloration.

CLEAN THE SPOT

Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaner to clean the area. Apply the cleaner to a rag and wipe where the decal will stick to the truck. Alcohol will also clean the area and evaporate quickly. These make it a common choice for many people.

LET IT DRY

Decals do not stick to a wet surface. So, let the area air dry completely or use a clean towel. Use a soft cloth fabric made in imitation of chamois leather to avoid damaging the truck paint.

REMOVE DECAL BACKINGS

You can remove the entire backing or just a portion at a time, depending on the size of the decals. Remove the backing once if the decals are a few inches long. And peel them off in thirds for larger decals. These ensure the application is more manageable.

APPLY THE DECALS

Apply the decals on the area firmly, then use a straight-edged tool to press more of the decal down in a controlled manner. Keep the decal pulled tight throughout the process to prevent bubbling from occurring.
