Dan Roy, a former software engineer at Delta, claims he has experienced the difficulties businesses encounter when switching from an on-premises model to a SaaS enterprise. He battled with this when Accucast, where he worked as CTO after leaving Delta, promoted email marketing tools and services. He eventually came to the conclusion that a hybrid strategy was the best option because it directly accesses first-party data from brands rather than depending on cloud data syncs. In order to commercialize this system, Taylor Jones and Roy co-founded MessageGears in 2011.
