Enabling the Firewall
In Windows 8, you can launch the App Bar by pressing the Windows-Z button while on the Start screen. Scroll down to Trend Micro Security, then click or tap the "All Apps" icon. Trend Micro's firewall can now be activated by clicking the "Personal Firewall Controls" icon. Then click "Settings," under the Personal Firewall heading. Check the box next to the words "Activate the Personal Firewall." Trend Micro's firewall is now active.
Security Levels
A firewall's security level can also be adjusted through Trend Micro's firewall profile settings. You can disable connections from computers outside of your company's network, but others on your company's computer network can still access your system. When you have enabled the firewall, adjust the security level using the slider under the Firewall Profile heading.
Added Exceptions
For Windows firewall, you can easily add program exceptions by its firewall setting component. Next, you would need to add exceptions by clicking on the “Advanced settings” which is below the security level! Then move ahead by clicking on the "program control” tab, to add details by entering the name of the program which you are looking forward to allow or block.
Trend Micro Activation firewall allows or blocks access to any program you want, including chat clients, remote access programs, or peer-to-peer sharing programs.
You will see a circle next to “Select a program” then click the browser in order to navigate and select Click the circle next to "Select a program" and click the "Browse" button to navigate the directory path. Click on the next circle which will be simple to allow or block connectivity. Depending on the action you wish to take, click the circles next to "Allow," "Block," or "Only warn you." You have the option of selecting "Simple." Click the "OK" button to finalize this exception. To close the firewall component, click the "OK" button again.
Advanced Settings
In advanced settings, click the "Add" button and enter the range of IP addresses, port numbers, and the related information about the program you want to allow or block. If you wish to use this advanced setting, you must know what the port and protocol address is. The documentation for the program has this information. To finalize the exception, click the "OK" button again to accept the advanced settings. Close the firewall component again by clicking the "OK" button.
