Carats
A carat is a measure of weight that is equal to 200 milligrammes.
Sometimes, a carat is also called a metric carat. Carats can be written as ct, but sometimes they are written as CD. One carat can be written as 1 ct or 1 CD, for example.
Kilograms
In 2019, the kilogramme was given a new name. Before, one kilogramme was equal to the weight of the platinum-iridium bar in Sèvres, France, which was called the International Prototype of the Kilogram.
In the 2019 SI brochure, the kilogramme is now defined by the Planck constant, as are the metre and the second. It weighs about the same as a thousand cubic centimetres of water.
The SI base unit for weight is the kilogramme, which is also a multiple of the gram. In the metric system, the number 103 starts with the word "kilo." Kilograms can be written as kg. For example, 1 kilogramme can be written as 1 kg.
