Lakshmi rose to prominence in Tantrik texts, which were written around the same time as the Puranas. She was the supreme goddess Maha-Lakshmi.
Lakshmi and Maha-Lakshmi are frequently distinguished. Maha-Lakshmi is regarded as an independent entity and the supreme embodiment of the mother goddess, whereas the former is regarded as Vishnu's consort and the goddess of wealth. Lakshmi is portrayed as a virginal warrior-goddess riding a lion, similar to Durga. when she is worshipped as Maha-Lakshmi, rather than as a pretty goddess seated on a lotus with a pot in her hand. Maharashtra is especially fond of this goddess's form.
Maha-Lakshmi is revered in ancient Pancharatra texts as the source of all creation. They assert that the cosmic soul, or Narayana, the unfathomable unmanifest, desired to start the universe. However, he lacked the resources to do so. His dormant energy, or shakti, burst forth in a blinding light as Maha-Lakshmi as he considered this issue.
The dynamic forces of creation were unleashed when Maha-Lakshmi placed the seed of divine desire in her palm, resulting in the formation of all life and the three worlds.
The goddess says in the Lakshmi Tantra:I have always existed. I am the initiator, the potential that comes into being.I appear to myself.I engage in activity for a while before finally dissolving. Energy, will, and awareness permeate all creations.I lubricate the senses of living things with the sap of my consciousness, like ghee that keeps a lamp burning.
The divine force that brings dreams to life is called Lakshmi. She is Prakriti, the supreme being: Nature that is self-sustaining and independent. She is Maya, the delightful delusion and dreamlike manifestation of divinity that makes life understandable and, as a result, worthwhile. She is shakti—energy that is limitless and abundant.
During Diwali people buy Lakshmi coins because this is considered as holy. Gold bullion and silver bullion are high in demand during this festival season. This trend always affected the gold and silver price.
