NASA scientist Cynthia Rosenzweig wins World Food Prize 2022
Leading climatologist, agronomist and former farmer Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig has been named the 2022 World Food Prize Laureate for her pioneering work in modelling the impact of climate change on food production worldwide.

Rosenzweig was selected for the award for her research to understand the relationship between climate and food systems and forecast how both will change in the future

Leading climatologist, agronomist and former farmer Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig has been named the 2022 World Food Prize Laureate for her pioneering work in modelling the impact of climate change on food production worldwide. 

  • Rosenzweig was selected for the award for her research to understand the relationship between climate and food systems and forecast how both will change in the future
  •   Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig was one of the first scientists in the world to document that climate change was already impacting food production and cultivation. 
  • Dr. Rosenzweig, Senior Research Scientist at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Adjunct Senior Research Scientist at the Columbia Climate School will be awarded the $250,000 World Food Prize in October in the United States. 
  •  According to the World Food Prize Foundation, the World Food Prize is a prestigious international award conceived as the "Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture" with a mission to elevate innovations and inspire action to sustainably increase the quality, quantity and availability of food for all.

World Food Prize 

It is given by the World Food Foundation based in Des Moines, Iowa, United States.

The first prize was awarded in 1987.
