The origin of Meenakari

The word Meenakari is derived from Meena, which is the feminine form of Minoo in Persian, that depicts the concept of heaven. Meena refers to the cyanic color of heaven. This art was first used by Iranian craftsmen of the Sassanid era. India witnessed Meenakari through the cultures of the Mughals as they invaded India. However, with time, this particular art got associated with the Indian state of Rajasthan.
