The Next phase of the Metaverse look like?
I believe the Metaverse will change our way of life, and we are already seeing the first signs of it. However, we are still at a point of extreme hype and lack of clarity about how things could turn out.
I see the metaverse as a social change, not just a technological one. As a serial entrepreneur with experience building tech startups, here are four predictions about the metaverse that I’m sure will come to pass in the near future.
The next phase of the metaverse will be phygital
One of the arguments I’ve heard many times is that the metaverse will never work because it’s fictional: it’s set in an imaginary land where people play make-up.I know why it may seem that way, since many of the visuals in the metaverse are cartoon characters that look like they were created in the 90s, but that’s not entirely true. The Metaverse Development isn’t just about putting on some bulky headphones and taking a spin around a fictional land. Sure, that can be a part, but it’s specifically about the gamification and entertainment side of things.
Imagine a consumer is on a hike and sees an ad to scan a code and join a giveaway drive. When they scan the code, they are offered a variety of possible compromises: They can trade it in for dinner and a night at a nearby hotel, or win a pair of hiking shoes. When you are part of the metaverse, commitment becomes precise and guided.
This interdimensional experience introduced into human life will enrich interactions by adding places, products and people on the same plane.
Let’s take an example: Many authorities check criminal record information before offering a job, granting loans, selling cars, houses, etc. In the future, I think all of that will be superfluous. All you will need to prove your identity and skills is your wallet address (or other unique identifier). And since the entire system is decentralized, it can only be accessed by systems that are actually (and legally) authorized to access the data. Therefore, there are no problems of information theft or invasion of privacy.
The metaverse will renew the educational system
As someone who regularly interacts with young minds while giving guest lectures at Stanford University and as a professor at UC Berkeley, I have always felt the need for sensation education. For a long time, the foundation of education has been largely the same. For the most part, I’ve found that the system hasn’t really been tuned to spark creativity in young minds. And that’s where the metaverse will play a bigger role.
One of the obstacles to education is the high cost of it in some parts of the world. I believe the metaverse will effectively democratize education by decentralizing the source to Web3 protocols.
Also, thanks to the improvement of VR/AR technologies, the classes will be much more immersive. The learn-to-learn concept that many Web3 learning centers are deploying today will encourage anyone to learn and polish their skills and knowledge. It will help create a culture of learning regardless of age or profession.
Labor will move to the metaverse
As life becomes more entwined with the metaverse through phytic experiences, I think the metaverse will start to employ a large percentage of the active population. Although the number will probably be limited to technology professionals at first, it will soon reach the creative professions as well.
Since education is the precondition for employment, learning in the metaverse will lead to serving or building in the metaverse. From my point of view, professionals will continue to become independent and work for themselves. This could be personal brand building, contract employment, self-employment, or later contributing to protocols for a living.
Digital goods will have a greater impact on GDP
Simply put, I predict that anything physical that can be done digitally will be done digitally.
We now have a way to actually verify and acknowledge ownership of digital assets through the blockchain. This solves the latest problems with digital assets, turning them into true personal property and not just another copy.
The big advantage digital properties have over physical ones is unlimited production capacity limited only by hard drive storage. I think that will soon see digital properties surpass the revenue generated by any cumulative product or service in GDP.
How can companies prepare?
Using short and long term strategies. The metaverse is a long-term game, but it doesn’t hurt to pick up learnings through an experimentation mindset. Establish yourself as a brand that is exploring the metaverse and ready to do some testing by owning digital properties, associating with popular metaverse names, etc. While this works as a great short-term strategy, start building a core team that is capable of embracing the metaverse model and laying the groundwork for the future.
Also, start building a community. The central factor of the Web3 model is the creation of a community. Even if you don’t necessarily follow the Web3 model but want to expand your business into the metaverse, building a community should be your first step.
I think there is no doubt that the metaverse will change our lives, but probably not like most people think. Metaverse Development Services There will still be a physical world, and I think it will be the one that prevails of the two. The change we will see will be much more subtle and far-reaching, and I think most of it will be about reducing the frictions in human life and making it much more interactive.
If you want your business to survive and flourish in the metaverse, apply the changes to create a robust system that eliminates friction, engages the community in operations, and resolves issues effectively.
